Pirate Week at Wee Speech Therapy

We chose a pirate theme to kick off our summer program at Wee Speech.  For story time, we chose the book "The Pirate Who Couldn't Say Arrr!" by Angie Neal.

All pirates say “ARRR!” All of them, it seems… but one. Join the journey of how one pirate learned to say “arrr” as you travel with him on an adventure across the seas to roar this most famous of pirate expressions!

Here's a link to find this book: http://angieneal.weebly.com/

For our pirate craft, we made articulation and language sailboats.  The kids built sailboats out of tongue depressors and pipe cleaners.  Artic kids wrote pirate words with their target sounds on their boats and language kids had to come up with pirate their words to write on their boats.

We also made pirate eye patches.  The kids loved pretending to be pirates when plundering through our sensory treasure box filled with all sorts of pirate goodies.
We also had a treasure hunt where we hid items all over the facility.  The children were read clues and had to search all over for the items.  The hunt eventually led to our treasure chest, hidden in the closet!

We had a blast at Pirate Week, and we hope our kids did too!
